Slovenski Camps

Train for swimming several hours a day while
Enjoying a traditional summer camp experience

Speed Swim Camp is designed to upgrade a swimmer’s technical abilities, and nurture a swimmer’s love for the water. Using our beautiful lake waterfront, swimmers will train outdoors in the pristine waters of Panther Pond.

Swimmers will learn to improve their stroke mechanics, starts, entries, and turns. Training will be customized for the ability of each individual camper. Scheduling during the week will include some periods that are dedicated to one of the four major racing strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. There will be classroom sessions to teach race strategy, turns, and out-of-season training. There will also be classroom sessions to help campers learn about the mental aspects of swimming.

This camp will add valuable variety to the annual training cycle of swimmers. Swimming in open lake water is an exhilarating challenge that includes waves, scenery, birds, sunlight, and mist. This will be an inspirational change of environment from the typical New England swimmer’s indoor swim season experience. This is a technical swimming camp not defined by 25-yard lengths and fluorescent lighting.

Every day will also include two or three periods when swim campers are free to participate in general summer camp activities such as sailing, chess, gaga ball, kayaking, wind-surfing, dodgeball, and capture-the-flag.

Swimming is one of the few sports that can be pursued for a lifetime. As swimmers age, many exit the sport in high school or college. There is no common transition from competitive swimming to swimming for the love it, and for fitness. This camp seeks to bridge that gap by instilling a love of water through fun and challenge in a different way than can be found in a chlorinated pool. We will be exploring speed, efficiency, training, and open water swimming in ways that will truly engage swimmers, all while building lifelong friendships, and promoting a love of the water in our participants.
