Fourth of July at Camp
The July 4th week is in many ways the same as our other weeks, but also has a few differences we'd like to explain.
- Many families have vacation plans or family gatherings, so the overall demand is lower. That is the main reason it is a discounted week.
- On the evening of the Fourth, we have campfire at the cove and watch a fireworks show across the lake.
- We have a few readings from the nation's founding, and sing a few patriotic songs. Some counselors and campers wear some patriotic clothing, and we might do a few little themed contests or activities.
- Other than that we don't do very much to celebrate. Some people probably wish we did more. Depending on the year we might do a little more, but not a whole lot.
- The week's enrollment is usually rather low. Depending on when the holiday actually falls, it has been as low as 40 campers and as high as 80. Some campers prefer a smaller week, and this is a good one to choose. Other campers like the full weeks, so they might want to choose a week after this.
Daily Rate
We offer a nightly rate that week to help accommodate family travel plans.
Campers may come in one contiguous stay as short as one night.
If your family has plans starting on Thursday, your kids could come to camp Saturday to Wednesday.
If your family has plans Sunday and Monday, your kids could come to camp from Tuesday through the end of the week.
You can choose your start and end days that week, but you cannot come and go back and forth.
It is still a residential program, so you could not just come for days, except possibly by special request.
The rate is $170 / day, and is counted somewhat by 24 hour chunks.
If you arrived on Tuesday afternoon and go home Wednesday before noon, that would be charged as one day.
If you arrived Tuesday morning and left Wednesday afternoon, that would be two days.
Less than 24 hours is one day; 24 - 48 hours is two days; 48 - 72 hours is three days...
We would rather not count by the hour, but keep it simple by approximate days.
You may note that the price for 6 days is $1,020, which is more than the cost of the week.
That is intentional so that after 5 days it becomes the price of the full week.
We don't want people trying to go home one day early to save $170.
7 Year Olds
We accept 7 year olds during the Fourth of July week.
There are fewer campers, so it is a little less overwhelming, and we can give them some extra help & attention.
There is also a nightly rate option so they could come for only a couple of days to try it out if the full week might be too long.
We still recommend this only for brave and independent 7 year olds, and it helps when they have an older sibling attending that week as well.
