Rob Thompson

Head Coach

Coach Thompson is the Bates College Assistant Volleyball Coach. He has more than 15 seasons of head coaching experience. Thompson is the founder and former Head Coach of the Cape Elizabeth HS volleyball program, coaching from 2006-2013. Coach Thompson was also the Head Coach of the Maine Juniors 18 Gold, 16 Gold and 14 Gold teams. He has numerous certifications including USAV & Gold Medal Squared advanced certifications, and was the Head Clinician at numerous camps and clinics. In addition, he is certified for USAV Indoor and Beach Impact as well as USAV Coaching Accreditation Program, I & II courses. Thompson has attended over 10 Gold Medal Squared Clinics.

Coach Thompson is passionate about assisting in the development of young adults by focusing on skill, sportsmanship, relationships, and the value of teamwork, without sacrificing fun. Additionally, he inspires each player to develop the confidence to maximize their potential, value the team, and love the game. Coach enjoys seeing his teams having fun and improving their abilities, and says "there is nothing that can compare to that!"

Peter Slovenski


Peter ("Coach") has been the head coach of men's and women's track and field at Bowdoin College since 1987, and has been running camps for over 25 years - serving as founder and director of the Bowdoin Summer Day Camp since 1989, and co-founder and co-director of the Dick Fosbury Track Camp. Coach earned a B.A. in English from Dartmouth College, and a master’s degree in educational administration from Stanford University in 1980.

Steve Slovenski


Steve graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He founded a club for dodgeball, laser tag, and other active events. Steve has a Masters in Education from Vanderbilt University and has taught high school math, physics, and engineering for five years.

Dugan Slovenski


Also goes by 'Camp Mom', Dugan is a mother of three boys. She is "outnumbered, but not outsmarted". She earned a B.A. in History from Stanford University in 1980, and a public teacher certification from Bates College in 1985. She is an experienced SAT tutor and former high school math teacher.

Paul Slovenski

Waterfront Director

Paul is the Athletic Director at Bayview Glen School in Toronto, Canada. Paul has years of experience supervising waterfront activities to ensure maximum safety.

Dave Slovenski

Program Director

Dave is a recent graduate of Princeton University where he, too ran the school dodgeball tournament. Dave coached track & field at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and now coaches and teaches math, physics, and robotics at the Franklin Road Academy in Nashville, TN.
