Directed by Olympic Gold Medal winner Dick Fosbury (1968 High Jump Gold Medal) and Bowdoin track coach Peter Slovenski, this is an outstanding track & field camp for campers aged 12 to 18 including high school graduates. Athletes will become stronger and more fit as our camp coaches lead them through dynamic old school training methods with a foundation in modern exercise science.

The camp at Panther Pond will include expert instruction in all track and field events. Event technique work will take place at a nearby high school track. Athletes will receive one-on-one coaching from experts with years of competition and coaching experience. Small event group sizes ensure that each camper gets personalized technique analysis as well as drills and exercises to reinforce corrections after camp ends.

High quality coaching with one-on-one attention will be offered in the following events:

Hurdles (High & intermediate)
High Jump
Jump Long
Triple Jump
Pole Vault
Discus
Javelin
Shot Put
Hammer
Sprints
Middle Distance
Long Distance

Each athlete receives personal and group coaching from the camp's staff of coaches who have had success at the high school, college, and even Olympic level. Campers will have the opportunity to measure and watch their improvement on videotape throughout the week.

There will be lectures, films, and demonstrations on the latest training techniques. Staff members will also teach campers about other aspects of competition such as nutrition, relaxation, visualization, and commitment.

Athletes will improve strength, power, endurance, and speed through our fast-paced and Spartan outdoor exercise curriculum that starts every morning with a dip in Panther Pond.

The daily program will be directed by current and former Division One track & field athletes. Cross-training will include hill running, jump rope, medicine ball drills, beach sprints, swimming, rope climbing, ladder running, and punching a speed bag.

Campers will be closely supervised at night by counselors in the cabin and counselors on patrol between the girls' cabin area and the boys' cabin area and throughout the peninsula.
