Steve Slovenski is a recent graduate of Princeton University where he was on the varsity track & field team for 4 years. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering. A three time scorer at the Ivy League track & field championships in the decathlon / heptathlon, Steve is a two-time Maine HS champion and former state record holder in the pole vault. Personal bests: Decathlon - 6149 pts, Pole vault - 15'6", High jump - 6'4", Long Jump - 21'0"
Dave Slovenski is a sophomore at Princeton where he holds university and Ivy league winter track records in the pole vault. He is majoring in mechanical engineering. In 2008, Dave set the New England HS pole vault record and won the Nike outdoor national pole vault championship. He was a 3 time All American in the pole vault as well as Academic All American in high school. Personal bests: HS - 16'9", College - 17'3"
The old school strength and conditioning training program is
based on the workouts the Slovenski brothers used for high school and college
track. Their exercises and drills that include splitting wood, medicine
ball, and jump rope strengthen athletes for football, lacrosse, soccer, and
other sports.
Peter Slovenski has coached Track & Field at Bowdoin since 1987. Bowdoin teams regularly finish among the top 5 teams in New England Division III championships, and in nine seasons placed among the top 20 teams in NCAA Division III.
Slovenski was the New England Division III Coach of the Year for Men's Cross-country in 1991 and for Indoor Track in 2000. He was voted Coach of the Year for New England III Women's cross-country in 1991 and 1992. He has also won NESCAC Coach of the Year for men's cross-country in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
Slovenski is a 1979 graduate of Dartmouth College, and a 1980 graduate of Stanford University's School of Education. At Dartmouth he was a 4-year letterwinner in winter and spring track. He set freshman records in the decathlon and pole vault in 1976. He made the All-Ivy League track team as a pole vaulter in 1977 and 1978.
Slovenski has twice served as NCAA Championship Meet Director when Bowdoin hosted the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in 1989 and 1993. He founded the Bates Track & Field Camp in 1989, and served as a co-director of the camp from 1989 through 2004. He has also been director of the Bowdoin College Day Camp for 17 years.
