Director: Peter Slovenski

Peter Slovenski has coached Cross Country and Track at Bowdoin since 1987. Bowdoin teams regularly finish among the top 5 teams in New England Division III championships, and in nine seasons placed among the top 20 teams in NCAA Division III.

Slovenski was the New England Division III Coach of the Year for Men's Cross-country in 1991 and for Indoor Track in 2000. He was voted Coach of the Year for New England III Women's cross-country in 1991 and 1992. He has also won NESCAC Coach of the Year for men's cross-country in 2000, 2001, and 2002.

Slovenski is a 1979 graduate of Dartmouth College, and a 1980 graduate of Stanford University's School of Education. At Dartmouth he was a 4-year letterwinner in winter and spring track. He set freshman records in the decathlon and pole vault in 1976. He made the All-Ivy League track team as a pole vaulter in 1977 and 1978.

Slovenski has twice served as NCAA Championship Meet Director when Bowdoin hosted the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in 1989 and 1993. He co-founded the Dick Fosbury Track & Field Camp which he co-directs with Dick Fosbury.

Director: Jorma Kurry

Jorma Kurry has been the cross-country and track coach at Falmouth High School in Falmouth, Maine since 1999. Falmouth has won 5 state championships in cross country and 5 state championships in indoor and outdoor track & field in the past ten years. The Falmouth boys cross country team placed top-10 at the 2005 New England Championships.

Kurry was voted Class B Indoor Track coach of the year in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The Maine Sunday Telegram named him as the all-state Indoor Track Coach of the Year in 2006.

Kurry has taught math at Falmouth since 1999. In 2008 Kurry was awarded the Siemens Advanced Placement Teacher of the Year for Maine.

Kurry is a 1993 graduate of Colby College and a 1998 graduate of the University of Iowa. He was captain of the 1993 cross-country and track teams at Colby.

Kurry has also coached at Skowhegan High School, the University of Iowa and the University of Southern Maine. He has been a counselor and coach at the Colby Cross Country Camp, the Bates Track Camp, and the Dick Fosbury Track & Field Camp.

Cabin Counselors:

Rob Speare, Princeton '10, ran for Strath Haven High School, led the team (as a sophomore captain) to its first ever central league and Delaware county championship as well as District 1 piaa AAA championship. In HS Speare ran 9:10 for 2 miles and placed 3rd at the PA track meet. In college, he has run a 14:28 indoor 5k, a 29:32 outdoor 10k, and has placed all region XC for the past two years (25th and 11th). This fall Rob qualified as an at large individual for NCAA XC nationals where he placed 123rd. Rob says of the sport: "I love running for the challenge it presents and the camraderie you feel with teammates and fellow runners through that challenge".

 Tyler King, Princeton '12, ran a 4:17.2 in the 1600m and a 1:54.3 in the 800m in high school. At Princeton, he has run an 8:30.6 in the 3k and 9:16 in the 3k steeple.
