String Music Camp is located on a beautiful wooded peninsula that extends a half mile into Panther Pond. The 120 acre peninsula is criss-crossed by over a mile of trails through oak, birch, hemlock, and white pine trees.
String Music Camp instruction is conducted mostly on benches and chairs on the beach. Players will also meet on the deck of the main lodge that overlooks the lake. In rainy weather our groups meet in the dining hall or main lodge.
Recreational activity options such as canoeing and kayak paddling are conducted from our waterfront beach. The natural beach is flat, wide, fifty meters long, and composed of fine golden sand that makes it a great site for swimming and beach volleyball. The beach is bordered by shade trees under which sit beach chairs that provide a beautiful setting for reading and instrument practice.
The forest trail system is used for hiking and active games.
Our
5000 square foot field is
used for dodgeball, soccer, lacrosse, and other field games.
The camp dining hall sits right on the shore so that every table has a view of Panther Pond through screened windows.
Campers will stay overnight in ten airy screened cabins that are as close as fifteen yards from the beach and no more than forty yards from the beach. Boys cabins are on one side of the beach. Girls cabins are on the other side of the beach. Residential counselors and staff supervise the cabins each evening. Campers fall asleep at night to the sound of breezes rustling through the pine trees and waves lapping up against the shore.
